Not connected

What is being attempted here is admirable, but how do we get the folks that do not have a computer at home to become part of this process? I realize that libraries, schools, friends and such might be connected but this is a poor substitute for being directly connected. The largest majority of people have a telephone and at least one TV but no computer connected to the Internet. Even a large number of people who use the Internet at work have no use for the personal side of it. These people will be left out of the loop and they vote too. Any solutions or ideas?

Can you document that most Americans don't have ready internet access?

Would it be worthwhile to target people who don't make a point of having net access since such people may not likely be interested enough in politics to participate anyway?

I said before (in posts that I think must have been censored by the leadership since I cannot find them) that I don’t think this effort will work. Electing a president is not enough since a president cannot make law. And electing someone who defies the 2 party system will not likely get along well enough with the Democrats and Republicans in Congress to get anything accomplished once in office.

A 3rd party movement is what is needed so candidates for both president and Congress can be elected. But, I don’t think a 3rd party effort can succeed if all of the work is internet-based. What is needed is campaign workers on the ground at the precinct level.

You make a very good point, but I see some potential benefit for the nation in this movement. If it can build a movement (even if it is restricted to the internet) that takes away many votes from the two corrupt ones (that is not sarcasm, that's how I view them.)
then they may adopt some of our goals to win back these internet voters. If that happens we have accomplished something.

Traditionally 3rd parties in the U.S. have been effectively dissolved because their main goals have been adopted by one of the major parties. But, bear in mind some people do not believe the Democrat and Republican Parties are salvageable and thus won’t think Unity08 is worth the effort.

Furthermore, if having one of the major parties adopt your ideas is your goal, then you should note that this tactic has only happened when the Democrats/Republicans have faced a viable 3rd party challenge. If all Unity08 does is run a presidential campaign, this tactic won’t work. It will be next to impossible for the Unity08 presidential candidate to be elected. But creating a full-fledged 3rd party and electing candidates to Congress as well as state and local offices will give Unity08 members a long-term voice in the political process.

No effort like Unity08 will be successful overnight. It will be a long, drawn out and hard struggle. I worry that Unity08’s leadership is being shortsighted by concentrating so much of their effort on the next presidential campaign.
