Glad to see the change coming. Too many take Shoutbox too literally.

Rule 3.6 (new) to allow for a "Team of Equals" candidacy

posted by markIllinois on October 3, 2024 - 9:52am

Historically, candidates never announce their candidacy for the Vice Presidency. They always announce for the Presidency.

Americans yearn for Presidential and VP candidates who are willing to work on a bipartisan basis, but no strong candidate wants to play second fiddle.

It should be possible for two candidates of different parties to declare and run together as a "Team of Equals" and let the Unity08 delegates decide which one is the Presidential nominee and which the Vice Presidential nominee.

This would greatly promote bipartisan unity by bringing together two strong candidates, from both parties, who share a common vision and a willingness to work together. It would expand democratic alternatives by empowering the Unity08 delegates.

Adding issues to the New American Agenda

posted by BobRoth on October 3, 2024 - 8:17am

Our members asked whether they could add certain issues to the vote on the New American Agenda. We thought it was a great idea. A few weeks ago we asked them to submit issues. We compiled those issues into a list and took the ten most requested and placed them into a poll. This poll was announced yesterday in a 10 Minute Tuesday campaign.

Congress

posted by Tarval on October 3, 2024 - 1:55am

Hello everybody, I would just like to take the time to inform you on some of the things that I think need to be changed.

First we need to remove all forms of lobbying, being that money should not be the reason we vote on a bill. To vote on a bill would be your heart and mind, not your back pocket.

Next we need to inform all elected officals that their vote shall be record from this day forward. There shall be no off the record voting.

Anybody that has served in congress for more than six years should be removed until the system is fixed. Term limits and such would only function until the system is fixed.

All bills shall be past with out pork.

An admendment shall only be granted the ability to be added to the bill if it pertaints to the bill in question.

Sore Loser Laws

Sore loser laws in four states, South Dakota, Mississippi, Ohio and Texas, may impact our U08 Ticket selection. If we select a candidate that is running and fails to win either the Democratic or Republican primaries, they may not be able to run in the above named states as a U08 Presidential candidate.

Corruption/Corporate theft of public treasury

posted by Myna on October 2, 2024 - 8:20pm

Current events are showing the war to be a feeding frenzy of corporate crooks,(all well connected). The loss of 363 tons of freshly printed $100 bills, uniquely serial numbered, sticks in my throat. No doubt just the tip of the umm, iceberg. Seemingly, there has been no effort to find where this money went. All the President has to do is tell Congress to send more. I can only guess that there will be record amounts of $ for those candidates who will prolong this war. Thank you

Buzzworthy

Lets make sure we have our ducks in a row.

When you click on Buzzworthy you can play a game about politics. It features Howard Dean and Dick Cheeny. Now we are supposed to be against partisan politics. When we poke fun of Dean and the VP what makes us better than the Rushes and the Air America folks?

I know its a joke, but It feels like its in bad taste.

Please add your two cents and if you agree, please let Unity 08 know.

Thanks
Chris
