The Oath of Office

posted by Mark J Seebach on October 6, 2024 - 11:01pm

I have a question for anyone who has the jurisprudence knowledge.
IS not the Oath of Office, which ALL elected officials take, legally
binding, as in, if you do not LIVE UP to your Oath, you are no longer

entitled to HOLD OFFICE? Every, single, elected official, who has
not, PROTECTED AND DEFENDED, THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF
AMERICA, FROM ALL ENEMIES, FORIEGN OR "DOMESTIC" is in BLATANT
VIOLATION of the OATH that THEY took VOLUNTARILY. AND does this not
mean, that they are IN CONTEMPT of THE LAW OF THE LAND?
It seems that anytime there is a question of impropriety, no one
wishes to speak "UNDER OATH". Excuse Me? Elected officials are "UNDER
OATH", 24/7 until they are NO LONGER, elected officials!
What seems to have been conveniently overlooked is, Sure, you can
make all the "CAMPAIGN PROMISES" you want, and not abide by them.
But once you "Take the Oath of Office", and become "OFFICIAL",
YOU CAN'T FRIGGIN" LIE! It is AGAINST the LAW!

Plank: Universal School Choice

Please vote 5 on this topic if you agree that Universal School Choice should be a plank in our platform.

A universal school choice system is one that enables all parents to send their children to a school of their choice, public or private.

Security & Progress.

JR Lowell:"He who is firmly seated in authority, soon comes to think that security, and not progress, is the highest lesson of statecraft." In the case of Bush the reason is obvious; he has not had any idea of what progress is. And if Unity 08 is going to find anyone to beat Hillary, it will have to find someone who understands progress. To do *that*, they must be able to consider positions outside the framework of the partisan group think now in place.

Most of what passes for debate, both in the postings and the media, is not intended to persuade, but to motivate greater zeal on the part of already persuaded partisans. There is no effort to look for new positions in the common ground, only new weapons to defend the intellectual turf already claimed. You cant run a republic that way, but its always worked pretty well for tyrannies.

money in politics

posted by redlands56 on October 5, 2024 - 9:59pm

The lynch pin to most of the problems cited is money in politics. Because it takes money to run and win, those with the money are able to buy and influence our elected officials. Why isn't health care properly addressed? Because the insurance and drug companies use their money to influence elected officials. Pick an issue and you will discover that the monied special interests determine government policy. As long as it takes money to run and win, money will control our government, and we will continue to have the best government money can buy, and the government will continue to respond to their interests and not the interests of the people or the nation. That is why this issue is the most important, because it directly affects all other issues.

Pete's Plan For Political Reform

posted by popo on October 5, 2024 - 7:24am

Today, on www.america-21stcentury.com I identified the guts of my plan for Political Reform that I hope the delegates of UNITY08, And Millions upon Millions of Americans will support, it is simple, practical and as sound as the dollar - once was ..

It is only radical - in that it's based on an intelligent understanding of the most crucial three issues we face, and a common sense approach to coping with them in a realistic and timely manner ..

If you can think of something better - please make it available to the delegates building our Agenda, Phil W, Steve, GP and John Milligan, if not please don't muddy the water with with negative observations that will serve no useful purpose.

Thank You ..

Give up the nuclear family model to save the planet.

posted by daybrown on October 5, 2024 - 2:21am

Hominids did not evolve as nuclear families, but as small tribes and villages. Communal housing, with only one kitchen, needs to heat/cool one set of walls so the per capita household consumption goes down to average global levels despite modern plumbing, electric, media, & broadband.

Having only 1-2 kids in the family stabilizes the population but results in generations of spoiled brats. Kids need the competition of peers to give them realistic expectations. But by the same token, home schooling lets them learn how to help each other but does not expose them to the innumerable pathogens that constantly circulate in larger schools. The infections have already been identified as triggering autism and other mental pathologies. Hominid immune systems never evolve in large herds and just cant handle exposure to so many pathogens, and there are problems with vaccines also.

Unity 08 should promise not to share contributor data.

I'm not going to give money to Unity 08 until I'm sure my mailbox and email wont have appeals from others for what they consider to be worthy causes.

Gerrymandering and the Restoration of Representative Government

Whether you believe we're living in a republic or a democracy, we're very possibly dancing around the crux of the issue by discussing campaign reform and the influence of lobbyists. Here's a suggestion:

"Resolved that all Congressional Districts be drawn with straight lines only and a maximum of 4 geographic corners."

This is not to say we don't need public financing of elections or that we shouldn't try to corral the influence of lobbyists.

we can win this election!

given that for now it looks like a clinton--guilliani general election it gives me hope.
why you ask? think about it, they are the two most polarizing figures on both sides, so if we
put forth to the american people two candidates of true quality willing to work for the people not just special interests why wouldn't people get energized and vote for a third party by the millions.
my analogy would be if you are given a choice for dinner of 4 week old meat, 5 week old meat, or a fresh fillet mignon
what would you choose. the choice is obvious which is exactly the point i am trying to make.
