I can't respond to Quick on the Bob Kerrey article for some reason - thought the below Bob Kerrey article that Autobob linked to was excellent and worthy in and of itself of separate posting for the whole Iraq/Foreign Policy/Grand Strategy discussuion. Kerrey knows of what he speakes being a decorated Marine and serving invarious capacities....

The Left's Iraq Muddle
Yes, it is central to the fight against Islamic radicalism.

At this year's graduation celebration at The New School in New York, Iranian lawyer, human-rights activist and Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi delivered our commencement address. This brave woman, who has been imprisoned for her criticism of the Iranian government, had many good and wise things to say to our graduates, which earned their applause.

But one applause line troubled me. Ms. Ebadi said: "Democracy cannot be imposed with military force."

North American Union, New World Order, the military industrial complex......not just for breakfast anymore!

During a campaign stop in Austin Texas this weekend, Presidential candidate Ron Paul called for bringing home U.S. troops and an end to a welfare state that benefits only big business at the expense of the poor and the middle class, while attacking his rival candidates as establishment shills who are out of touch with the sentiment of the American people.

The Texas Congressman also slammed the New World Order, the North American Union and the move towards global government which is being implemented partly by the erosion of U.S. sovereignty and the Bush administration's suicidal immigration policy.

"I think even our first President Bush said that the New World Order was in tune and that's what they were working for. The U.N. is part of that government. They're working right now very significantly for a North American Union - that's why there are a lot of people in Washington right now who don't care too much about our borders. They have a philosophic belief that national sovereignty is not important. It's also the reason that I have made very strong suggestion that we need not be in the United Nations for our national security," Congressman Paul said.

Muslim Americans and Al Qaeda

A disturbing new study just came out:

http://pewresearch.org/assets/pdf/muslim-americans.pdf

Check out pages 11 and 12. 5% of American Muslims have a favorable view of Al-Qaeda, and another 27% refused to answer the question. That means, assuming (as they do) there are 1.4 millon adult muslims in the US, at least 70,000 people support Al-Qaeda and that number may be as high as 448000 (or more... these estimates are conservative according to the methodology section). The numbers are higher for US-born Muslims, indicating that they are being radicalized here in America. Even more worrysome, 15-20% of muslims under 30 believe that suicide bombing is justified.

This information is being spun as good news ("Most Muslims Like America"), and the question about Al-Qaeda is largely being left out of the reports I'm reading. I find those numbers troubling, though.

Ron Paul

Ron Paul won the debate hands down - all the polls show it - but the establishment media are loathe to report it, because if a tree falls in the forest and the corporate press choose not to report on it then it doesn't make a sound.

After several days of voting, the online MSNBC poll has Ron Paul leading in every single positive category , proving that the vast majority think he won the debate. In an ABC News poll, well over 7,000 voted for the Congressman with Giuliani and Romney receiving a paltry 100 votes each. In a CSPAN poll , 69% voted for Ron Paul, with his nearest contender garnering just 9% of the vote.

Many would attribute this to be a reflection of focused online activism rather than overall national opinion, but the fact is that Paul was way ahead of the other candidates in the hours after the debate ended and before the polls had been widely publicized by websites supportive of the Texas Congressman.

This tells us that the American people are crying out for a real conservative and Ron Paul would be a serious contender for the White House if the media afforded him equal coverage with the likes of Romney, McCain and Giuliani.

What's this all about?

I registered at this website several months ago and still have not received any substantive information about it. I have no clear idea what you are all about.

Specifically, what are you trying to do? What are your objectives, and what particular steps will you take to achieve them? I don't want to hear vague "mission statements", I want to know about specific actions and goals.

Time to start a National Cyber Party

Has anybody seen what happened to my May 19, 2024 post calling for the creation of a new national cyber political party? It seems to have disappeared! It's a conspiracy!

In any case it is time, and I would like to hear from you all on the idea. I would especially like to hear from those who have actually been executive committee members of a political party on the merits of this idea. Thank you

Hi All,

I believe this site would be a tons more user friendly if a general Search function was added, and also one at the Forum/ShoutBox level. I sure would visit it and interact more if these were added.

Issues to adopt by Unity 08-

1. The total abolition of further production, deployment, and usage of Depleted Uranium, which in several dozens of cases has caused extreme and fatal birth defects not only on Serbian, Afghani, and Iraqi children, but also in those of our OWN UNITED STATE SOLDIERS! D.U. must be placed under permanent moratorium and disposed of with all due haste.

Victims of D.U. or other hazardous chemicals, or those who may have been infected by living nearby facilities, should be offered mandatory treatments for possible effects by the chemicals, and financial retribution for being exposed to this biohazards.

2. Green economy and sustainable development. The United States can successfully rebuild industry without inflicting adverse effects upon our fragile environment and our health- we don't have to damn our children's future through relying on fixed resources. For example, a continuously rising tree-free paper industry offers the world viable ecologically-friendly solutions in harvesting and manufacturing premium paper products from an ancient crop called Kenaf. It can be harvested within seven months, as opposed to the less reliable fibers from trees, which generally take seven or eight YEARS to reach full potential. With 60-90 days of required frost free conditions, a massive financial hub could be established in the southwest United States, providing millions of Americans with excellent, basically permanent jobs.

DID ANY OF US FEEL 40 YEARS AGO, THAT WE WOULD ULTIMATELY BE INCLUDED IN THAT STATEMENT.

WE SHOULD ALL LOOK IN A MIRROR, BECAUSE ANY ONE OF US WHO BELIEVES THAT CHANGES ARE NECESSARY, FITS IN TO ONE OF THOSE CATAGORIES. TIRED, AND YEARNING TO BE FREE ARE REALLY THE TWO KEYWORDS HERE. WE ARE ALL POOR, NO MATTER WHAT OUR ECONOMIC SITUATION IS. COMPARED TO THE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF MONEY THAT OUR POLITICIANS ARE SPENDING EACH AND EVERY DAY.................WE ARE ALL POOR.
