  • They seem so irrationally dedicated to their cause, that the terrorist jihad against us may be far more dangerous than the Cold War. Does the danger justify our treatment of prisoners and domestic surveillance – or does it justify a much more rigorous inspection system in our ports and on our borders? Is the goal to return to normal or to heighten a sense of shared sacrifice and unity in the face of a deadly enemy?
