You, as members, will be asked to choose the issues you believe to be crucial to the future safety and well-being of the United States (as opposed to some that might be considered important and worthy of debate but not crucial to the country’s future). We expect that those issues will probably not include many of the “wedge” issues that the parties seem to use excessively to rile up their base vote, but which are not the most important issues confronting the country in the view of a vast majority of Americans.
Once you have identified the crucial issues, we will provide a wide range of briefings on possible proposals on those issues from fully across the political spectrum – a non-partisan panoply of responsible views presented by qualified experts. Each of them will be asked to recommend questions they think should be asked of the candidates on the issue.
Then, you will pick the crucial questions to be asked the candidates on the crucial issues – and the candidates will be expected to provide written and video answers to all those questions, to be posted in the Convention Hall website. Whether they are right, wrong, brilliant, dumb or evasive you will decide.
Unity08 will not have a traditional party platform, but something far more powerful. We will have millions of delegates choosing both the issues which are crucial for the country and the questions that are crucial on those issues. Candidates for the Unity08 nomination will ignore them at their peril.
