Unity08. A people's movement to take our country back.

Well, one must admit there are donors on both sides of the aisle.

And one would expect that someone willing to put down big bucks for a political movement would have been in politics for a long time.

However, several donors certainly don't seem very centrist in where they put their money? (But then if we can use there money to move politics away from their views what the heck.

Lets look at the SANTS, Roger first. Big time Dem Donor, TED Kennedy , centrist? What the heck does Ted need money for ? Did support Arlen Spector , but that was just to defeat a more conservative challenger, hmmm Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, not exaclty the DLC here...

Unless of course if you are Dick Cheney and those who you know are Haliburton (who also works for standard business rates), then it is self-dealing.

Low intern rates, so then the insiders can provide work-study to their priveleged offspring, but then again you can't choose your parents.

Let me try to speak for everyone on the Founders Council on this one (and circulate my response to them all so they can speak for themselves if I have mis-stated anything).

There is no one on the Founders Council who intends or wants to benefit financially from Unity08. Other than contributing themselves, almost none will have any financial relationship of any kind with the organization. Some will have expenses reimbursed. A few college students are (and will) serve at ridiculously low intern rates. And a few will be providing their business services at standard rates. (Like any rational organization we will work with those we know from first hand experience can and will provide competent services.)

To the best of my knowledge no one on the Council benefited in any way from the 527s of the 2024 campaign or benefits from any existing 527 operations, regardless of ideological bent.

We appreciate your interest and questions. And we understand the skepticism that politics in recent years has seemed to spawn. We hope that you understand that while we will continue to try to answer, we also must continue to get our other work done. So we both need to exercise some patience in this process. Hey Earn, why don't you talk like a normal person. It's annoying. If this movemenmt is full of people that talk like you, I'd rather join one that has normal people.

This organization has been in existence for several months now. Not a word from the treasurer? or even any form of a accounting report. How does one know that these donations are not being directed to Tehran?

"Silence from the founders is good news right now ..." is pure orwellian double speak. Having reviewed the credentials of these founders should give everyone pause.

Well lets consider one of the 4 members of the Board with all the power is also with Roosevelt Institution, a 'non-partisan' leftist think tank, with a strong overlap of donors Moveon.org and likely D Alliance , of course when you are an organization that gives large somes of cash secretly spread by many members its hard to trace precisely.

Does thig prove it ? NO , but does make the question worthwhile. Uo8 FAQ says $1 MILLION in $5K chunks for startup costs... well lets see that is 200 donors, who puts together 200 people quickly all willing to write checks for $5K each to start a movement that is going to organize on campuses, build voter lists, and only has a semi-plausable arguement for really running a ticket.

If our counting machine accepts the green backs we'll cash it, cuz no money will come our way that is not clean... And any money from North Korea will be taken directly to the authorities!

typo "if we focus on a single theme" below... that being exodus of both parties to Independence for all Americans to show how mad we are! Without changing the system, this will bring all Americans to our door...

Just don't ask whether it leads to Democracy Alliance unless someone can point to a possible connection.

I can't understand why the Founders ople don't simply disclose where their funding comes from. It would eliminate any question.

Unity08 is perfect for this because our base is of a strong center and (potential) solid policy. Damn, at the risk of sounding like a politician myself. Mr Jordan (and he does deserve a LOT of respect as one of the all time great campaign managers in presidential politics) does provide a complete answer while at the same time his phrasing makes you have to spend some time. I take it he's being polite and optomistic and mostly framing the answer in the most positive light possible.

1) Unity 08 has no state organizations yet but we sure hope it will

2) Unity 08 is getting some buzz with politicl media types but it hasn't caught the imagination of the public, but we sure hope it will.

3) This fall we are going to organize in a handful of states (based on other commentary most likely around colleges where their is some groundwork being down).

4) In the meantime we have the website for folks to debate and feel like they are involved, hopefully it will catch fire.

He can't very well say more directly that it is a shell of an organization or people will think it is a paper tiger rather than the framework that they hope will fill up.

All their answers sort of walk a tight-rope of some sort or the other.

Mr. H Jordan a role model for political junkies (no pun intended) that think the campaign manager is a really sexy position.

Some of us will wear blue, some red... many of us will speech broken english... and only a few leaders from the establishment will come forward as they get chaised out of two party politics and not before... then you should be "Suspicious"... cuz this movement will find victory with one theme and one theme alone! In regards to the thread you first linked to, that chain of discussions did get WAY out of whack. The ignorant conspiratory comments in that thread have me way more concerned for this movement than Doug Bailey's response (or lack of) to the question.

As per the second link you posted: as that was a thread started by me, I think I'm at liberty to say that I found the response from Mr. Jordan informative and adequate.

I realize that unity08 is still in its infant steps, and those in charge are still struggling to get everything worked out. I'm willing to give them a chance to get things in order, and address all the transparency questions that so many people keep bringing up. As people bring these up however, they seem to loose sight of the potential that this movement has, and how much of a drastic improvement it seems to be over anything else in the political landscape.

I think we all need loose the paranoid and confrontational tone that so much of this shoutbox has taken on, and start treating the movement as if it might actually be something good. Because if we don’t, I'm afraid it never will.

I am becoming a bit suspicious about this whole Unity08 thing. I read within a thread that is director to the Founders, titled Contributions to Unity 08 under the forum of “Ask Unity08 Founders”, Mr. Doug Bailey writes:

However Mr. Bailey never answers the question. I hope I am not being too arrogant but without a direct answer from one of the Founders I felt impelled to answer the question myself.

Mr. Bailey sounded more like a miffed employer than a new leader of a new movement.

Within another thread titled State/Local level ground teams also under the forum “Ask Unity08 Founders”, Mr. Hamilton M. Jordon writes:

Again Mr. Jordan dose not answer the question. He leaves me with the feeling, I have just heard a politician at one of those network debates give a canned answer a prescreen question from a “voter”.

My question to the “Founders”, are we going to see some real plans, date and time please, or is this really a trial balloon for a third party?
